What is Salesforce Platform?

Salesforce Platform is the underlying framework on which Salesforce-hosted products are built. Previously called force.com, it’s a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that Salesforce’s cloud-based suite of products, such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and others, are built on. Third-party apps available in the AppExchange are also hosted here.

More than this, the Salesforce Platform enables customers to build, test, and deploy cloud applications to order to solve their specific business challenges. These could be related to data management, security, APIs, workflow automation, scalability, and more. A key benefit is that using the Salesforce Platform removes any hassle around server configuration and management.

Thanks to its low-code capabilities, customers have the power to extend their Salesforce products by connecting with third-party systems or building their own apps and websites, with less time and complexity.
